Cami Blackburn

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals and families through grief, loss, trauma, and significant life transitions. I practice from a client-centered, trauma-informed approach and believe you are the expert on your own life and experiences.

My approach draws from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strengths-based and solution-focused approaches. Together, we will build a foundation of trust, compassion, and understanding while exploring your strengths, identifying what matters most to you, and working toward meaningful change.

My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can process what has been, navigate where you are now, and discover what comes next.

Focused Therapeutic Approaches

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and improve relationships. DBT balances acceptance and change while teaching practical skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I believe DBT has something to offer all clients and can provide coping skills often needed for stabilization.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Are you feeling disconnected from yourself, your purpose, or the life you want to be living? Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you identify what truly matters to you, develop greater psychological flexibility, and make intentional choices that align with your values. Through ACT, you can learn to respond to difficult thoughts and emotions with compassion while creating a rich and meaningful life.

Trust-Based Relational Intervention

Trust-Based Relational Intervention is a trauma-informed, attachment-based approach originally developed to support children who have experienced adversity. It emphasizes connection, empowerment, and meeting underlying needs.

TBRI was developed primarily for children and their caregivers, its foundational principles can also inform therapeutic work with adults. Experiences of trauma, loss, disrupted relationships, and unmet emotional needs can influence how adults experience safety, regulate emotions, establish trust, and connect with others. Applying TBRI-informed principles in adult therapeutic work can involve fostering emotional and relational safety, strengthening awareness of underlying needs, developing regulation skills, and building healthier patterns of connection.

Areas of Interest

Grief & Bereavment

Loss changes us. Whether you're grieving the death of someone you love, anticipating a loss, or adjusting to a life that looks different than you imagined, grief can leave you wondering who you are and how to move forward. We'll make space for your grief while finding ways to carry what matters with you.

Life Transitions & Identity

Some of life's biggest challenges come when one chapter ends and the next hasn't quite begun. Divorce, retirement, an empty nest, changes in health, or the end of a caregiving role can leave you questioning your identity, purpose, and place in the world. Together, we'll explore who you are becoming, reconnect with what matters to you, and find your footing in this new season of life.

Trauma & Adjustment

Difficult experiences can stay with us long after the circumstances have changed, influencing our relationships, sense of safety, and understanding of ourselves. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to move forward. Therapy offers a supportive space to explore these experiences, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with your own capacity for growth, healing, and change.

I offer free, no pressure, 15-minute consultations. Let’s chat first before deciding to schedule your first therapy appointment. I often tell my clients, my role isn’t to be your counselor. My role is to promote your mental wellness and if that means being your counselor or finding a counselor who would be a best fit for you then I more than happy to do so. Stepping into the therapeutic process can bring up a lot of unsure or anxious feelings. Let me help you navigate those first steps! Call or text to set up your consultation.
