Jennifer Graves, LMSW

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker who approaches therapy as a collaborative process grounded in empathy, curiosity, respect, and a trauma-informed perspective. My approach is founded on the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My goal is to create a safe, steady, supportive space where clients can better understand themselves, how they relate to the world, build practical skills, and move toward change that feels sustainable and aligned with their values.

Therapeutic Approaches

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and improve relationships. DBT balances acceptance and change while teaching practical skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I believe DBT has something to offer all clients and can provide coping skills often needed for stabilization.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach to trauma that focuses on how stress and traumatic experiences are held in the nervous system. This therapy helps clients gently increase awareness of bodily sensations, restore a sense of safety, and support the body’s natural ability to regulate and heal.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy helps individuals develop psychological flexibility by learning to relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions. ACT emphasizes acceptance, mindfulness, and values-based action, helping clients build a meaningful life even in the face of distress.

Self-Harm / Crisis

Chronic suicidal thoughts and self-harm urges can be frightening, confusing, and hard to talk about, especially when they have been present for a long time. These experiences are often connected to intense emotional pain, trauma, or feeling overwhelmed by life rather than a single crisis. Therapy can provide a steady, supportive space to build coping skills, increase emotional safety, and develop new ways of responding to distress while working toward a life that feels more stable and worth living.

Boarderline Personality Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder is often misunderstood and highly stigmatized. Many of the patterns associated with BPD developed as intelligent ways to survive overwhelming emotional or relational experiences, but those strategies may no longer lead to a person’s desired lifestyle or healthy relationships. Therapy focuses on building insight, emotional regulation, and healthier relational patterns. We will hold two truths: much of what shaped these struggles was outside your control, and that you still have the capacity to create change moving forward.

Trauma

Trauma can affect both the mind and body, influencing how you experience safety, emotions, and connection long after the event has passed. It may show up as anxiety, numbness, hypervigilance, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. Using a trauma-informed and somatic approach, therapy helps gently restore a sense of safety by working with the nervous system, increasing body awareness, and supporting the body’s natural capacity for healing at a pace that feels manageable and respectful.

Schedule a Consult Today!

I offer free, no pressure, 15-minute consultations. Let’s chat first before deciding to schedule your first therapy appointment. I often tell my clients, my role isn’t to be your counselor. My role is to promote your mental wellness and if that means being your counselor or finding a counselor who would be a best fit for you then I more than happy to do so. Stepping into the therapeutic process can bring up a lot of unsure or anxious feelings. Let me help you navigate those first steps! Call or text to set up your consultation.
